Flea market!

Today I spent the whole day from nine o'clock in a flea market in Vanha Ylioppilastalo! I had my own table which I filled with stuff after I'd spent a descent amount of time doing some inventory around our closets and attic! This, I think, is the best and most fun way to get rid of unnecessary things, clothes, and shoes. It's so nice to see the joy in people's faces when they find something they like in something you don't need anymore!
I try to do this at least once a year, maybe twice, and like to put some thought to the whole thing. First of all you need some nice table cloths to make the table look nice. Even when you fill it with things it will show from underneath and make an emphasis. Secondly, this my sweet mother taught me, you can style some outfits you put on display, in today's case, the wall. Mix tops with scarves and jewellery, it makes them look even nicer! And finally, iron the clothes! This I did not do, and it bugged me a little bit, but I did get over it eventually! And last but not least, the clothes you sell must be clean!
I made some good selling, had stuff in at least four big bags and came back with one, woohoo! The thing is to keep the prizes low, you don't go there to make money, the main thing is to recycle, get rid of stuff you don't need anymore, and make space to your closet so you can fill it again..!
I also like to meet people, talk a little, and feel the spirit of flea markets, it's nice and makes you feel good!

Here's how it was, it's such a beautiful space! My Mother came to keep me company, we had a good time as always, there was time to catch up, chat and have lunch, thank you Mom! This flea market is relatively new and it was my first time as a seller there and I will go back for sure!

Collars!

I just have to show you what I found from the final sales! Fake fur collars, look!
I fell for these pretty little things immediately! I know all kinds of collars, pearly, furry, glitzy etc. have been big the past season but only now I thought I actually like them a lot! These two were -75% from the original price, I couldn't believe it! It seems now's the perfect time to make real finds in the accessory department. Clothes may have gone already but all kinds of little things to give something extra to your outfit, are still out there waiting!

These are just perfect, very Anna Karenina I think! And that might just be the reason for my sudden interest for them! When the movie came out last week I realized I hadn't read the book, and thought I definitely want to read it first! I went to the book store and bought it, so I've been under the influence for about seven days now, so there's my explanation! Makes sense, right?!

It's an amazing book by the way, they don't call it a classic for no reason! It's not very hand bag-friendly though with all the 900 pages, but I've been persistantly carrying it around with me! I bought a paper back, so it's not that heavy. And speaking of which, I have a perfect moment now to read a few pages! See you soon!

A feel-good day!

I was right, this was a fine day! I took care of homey stuff such as getting groceries and cooking. I love it when there's time do all that properly! I took a little walk outside too, it was so beautiful, really bright!

Later on I went to an exercise class, I'm so proud of myself! It's the classic new year's boost, trying to make a mence! I've seriously neglected my physics, considering my proffesion, and, well, everything else too. But I don't know how long it's been since my last gym class because the moves certainly have changed! This was so much fun, like a dance class really! All of a sudden I noticed from the mirrors that we all were doing stuff you see in Rihanna's music videos! Well, almost.. Does really good to your hips and lower back! I'm a little terrified about tomorrow though, I'm guessing I won't be able to give my husband a show, not just quite yet!
Oh, but I sure felt good afterwards! I will try to do my all to keep this in my schedule no matter how busy or tired I might be!

No we're just relaxing, watching a movie, and soon I'll turn in and enjoy my sleep, ah, heavenly! Here's a few pics from today, I coul not resist the white roses I saw in the shop, they go so well with our dining room now that I let January in after the red December! Fresh flowers crown any day! Breakfast on a Friday

Good Morning!
It's Friday and the heavy week at work is behind me! I'm so happy to wake up with no hurry, read the paper properly and have my breakfast with the many cups of tea! It's a proper January weather outside, sun is shining from a clear sky and there's some 15 minus degrees! I have a good feeling about the weekend, some hurry-free days ahead, nice!
My favourite breakfast at the moment is natural youghurt with a delicious new muesli I found from our local food shop, along with banana slices and blueberries from the freezer, which I picked from our summer place last summer. So delicious! I loaded the teapot with some excellent green tea, and am sipping away with the paper in front of me.

Movie night!

Oh, how it's been a busy few days! Nice to be at home and with you all again! It's been an intensive week work-wise, I've had one extra project beside regular work, but after tomorrow it will be easier. We have our season opening tomorrow, big concert with big pieces!

Tonight myself and my husband went to see a movie. It was actually a premiere for a Finnish film called Kaappari. It's based on a true story which took place in Finland in 1978, when a man hijacked an airplane in Oulu and all the passengers were held hostages. Everybody came out alive but there wasn't a clue among the officials how to resolve a situation like this. It was so well showed in the film, the innocence of that time. 

The casting was excellent, we have such good actors and actresses! Aleksi Mäkelä, the director always casts such brilliant pros even to the smallest roles, so it's really a pleasure to watch his movies. Also the aesthetic part was impressive, 70's clothes, hairstyles, make-up, everything. My husband quite often gets invitations to happenings like these and this time we could actually attend, which was nice! We skipped the after party and sneaked out for a pizza just the two of us! Some quality time in the middle of the week, so nice!

Sis. Deli & Friendship!!

Today I had a breakfast date with my dear friend! We are such a good team, fit well together! This time we wanted to go really early since we were going to check out the flea market in Vanha Ylioppilastalo, so we agreed to meet at 8.45! On a Sunday! You have to be early when flea markets are involved, that's when the best things are still available!
We happen to live in the same building (which is very convienient in every possible way!) so we met at the front door and walked to the tram stop admiring the beautiful, sleepy and silent streets of Töölö. We went to a café called Sis. Deli in Kalevankatu. It opend at 9 and we were the first ones! Oooh the breakfast buffet was insanely good!! Also tea, special coffees and a smoothie were part of it. It was so delicious we couldn't believe it! This chain has specialized itself in organic and local food, they make different types of pastes and jams themselves, as well as all the grilled veggies in the buffet. It was truly good, you just know it when the ingredients are good and fresh. We were really exited about the place, it was her idea, I'd never been there before, and don't understand why! Also the space was really nice, quite simple, black and white things, old floor, and a little shop as well with organic muesli and jams, tea and such for sale. I bought some tea to bring home, and off we went with our stomachs full and promised to come back!

The flea market was nice too, we looked around and made some finds. So nice to have a Sunday flea market right in the center, I recommend visiting! The café was open with a soup lunch, and there was quite a lot of people. Not so much sellers, yet, but hopefully word will spread!

Now I'm back home, we're just lying in bed with my sweet husband, reading Sunday paper and books, it's so nice and sweet! I just love days like these, mind is calm and good! Hugs to you all sweeties!

Saturday & Sunshine!

Today the sun came out once again! I had to go to take care of some things in the center so it was lovely to walk outside in the crispy and clear weather! I slept like a log last night, almost nine hours which is a lot for me! That was a perfect start for the day!

While I was out I managed to steal myself a wonderful moment in The Ounce! I have told you about that, it's one of the prettiest tea rooms I have ever seen! This time I made a request to have a really rich black tea, something that goes with cold weather, maybe vanilla in it, and the lady gave me several options I could smell first and then make up my mind! It's such a unique place, I love it! I ended up having tea called Creme Brulee and it was heavenly! I sat down, had my tea, dreamed for a moment, took a few photos and came home. I must say sometimes you don't need any tricks to make yourself happy!
